A SUPERMARKET has celebrated its launched with a donation to a charity.
Tesco, in Mill Hill Broadway, opened its doors this week.
As part of celebrations, store manager Shaista Ali and the store team handed £500 to the Good Neighbour Scheme.
Jeanette Poulton, coordinator, and Derrick Edgerton, chairman of the charity, cut the ribbon and declared the new shop open.
The Good Neighbour Scheme is a small charity which supports older people in Mill Hill and Burnt Oak stay independent.
Ms Poulton said: “I would like to thank Tesco for this generous donation. The money will go towards a special outing we’re planning in June for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th Birthday with transportation and either a lunch or afternoon tea.”
Shaista added: “We are really enjoying meeting our new customers and we hope that Tesco will become a key part of the local community.”
