TRIBUTES have been paid to a “wacky” great-grandmother.

Kathleen Boland, of Montrose Avenue, Burnt Oak, who had heart failure, died after a fall at the end of January.

The 87-year-old was a housewife who had seven children, 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Her husband, Michael, died 20 years ago and she enjoyed spending the last two decades of her life as a single woman.

Her daughter, Shirely, said: “Her main hobby were her family and her children, whom she was very proud of. She was always there for everyone. The family kept her going and she kept them going.

“She was very well known in the area, she was a home-bod and kept very busy. She was a happy, bubbly, wacky woman – it’s hard to describe if you don’t know her.

“If you popped in for a cup of tea, you always left feeling much better about yourself. She was inundated with visitors, very sociable and friendly.”

Mrs Boland was born in Ireland but lived in the Burnt Oak area for nearly 50 years, where she raised her children.

Her funeral will take place on Friday, February 19 at the Annunciation Church, in Burnt Oak, at 12 o’clock. All are welcome to attend and the family have asked for donations to the British Heart Foundation or the church.
