A grandmother who lost a cancer battle will be remembered by friends in a special bridge club event.

Simone Gold, 66, was a teacher at the Ace of clubs bridge club at Mill Hill golf club, Barnet Way, for over ten years.

She was diagnosed with lung cancer last May and died in January this year.

Paul Gold, Simone’s husband, thought a memorial bridge event would be a fitting way for everyone to honour her. Mr Gold is hoping to raise up to £3,000 for Chai Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK.

Ace of clubs bridge club member, Jill Feldman said: “Simone was larger than life, a very good bridge player and she will be missed by everyone. “The game has been organised for a Friday at 10am as Simone used to run these successful sessions and it will be quite poignant.

“We have had a great reaction to the event, with more than 100 people signing up to play, and we have received donations from bridge members who cannot attend, and family friends and neighbours who do not even play the game.” Prizes will be on offer and refreshments will be provided during the game on Friday May 13.
