A group of keen historians are encouraging people to join them in a bid to protect war memorials.
Members of the Southgate District Civic Trust are looking for volunteers to take part in their new project to commemorate the First World War.
A free workshop later this month will aim to inspire people to conserve war memorials, as the group’s goal is to ensure many, if not all, of the country’s war memorials are in a good condition.
Anna Wilson, senior development officer at Civic Voice said: “Southgate is a key area in ensuring the fallen soldiers of the First World War are appropriately commemorated. Training volunteers on how to record the condition of war memorials is the first step.”
The workshop will take place in Cockfosters on Friday May 13, from 9.45am to 2.45pm.
