A determined personal trainer is encouraging people to join her in walking one mile a day during May.

Anne Iarchy has lived in Finchley for 16 years, and has been working as a personal trainer in Barnet for 6 years.

Her one mile a day challenge fits well as May is national Walking Month, and registration fees will go towards her chosen charity, Haven House Children’s Hospice.

Ms Iarchy said: “It‘s going really well so far, 30 people are taking part in this month’s challenge. I’m noticing that people are finding it tricky to fit it in to their daily routine, because depending on your speed, it can take up to half an hour.

“I chose the hospice because I know someone involved there, and heard about the work they are doing, so it’s my annual charity.

"I came up with the 'Walk a Mile a Day in May' campaign to get people to take notice and get involved, and people are telling me that they feeling better and they do feel good for doing it.”

Ms Iarchy chooses one charity to support each year, and is hoping to raise as much as she can for the hospice.

This walking challenge is one of many over the years, as Ms Iarchy has previously organised a squat and planking challenge and fruit and vegetable challenge.

Ms Iarchy is already planning an event for next month, and will take on a 62 mile ultra-marathon in July.

There is till time to join and walk a mile a day for the hospice.
