A DIABETIC man is to cycle from London to Paris to raise cash to help other diabetics.

Gaurav Shrivastava, from Mill Hill, is currently in training almost every day for the three-day journey which starts on September 2.

The 38-year-old said: “Call me crazy. I’ll be cycling over 230 miles in three days with over 9900 ft of climbing.

“But the route will take me through the rolling hills of the English countryside through to the quaint and charming French farmlands and charismatic towns before finishing in full view of the Eiffel Tower.”

As a warm-up Gaurav will also undertake the 46-milePrudential Ride London-Surrey from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, through south west London and finishing on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

He will be raising money during both races for Diabetes UK.

The charity provides information, advice and support to help people manage their diabetes and it also funds research into care, cure and prevention of Diabetes.

There are over 4 million people living with diabetes and a further 11 million people are at an increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes at some point in their life.

Diabetes is a progressive disease and if left untreated or not managed it can have long term consequences.

There is no cure and the only way it can be treated is through life long medication and a healthy lifestyle.
