South west Hertfordshire is set for a few days of scorching temperatures as unseasonably stormy weather makes way for a mini-heatwave.
The county basked in warm temperatures at the start of the week before a spell of unsettled weather from Friday which included strong winds and rain.
However, forecasters said the mixed weather should pass over by Tuesday as the mercury rises up to 29C across the south-east.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Through the week ahead, we will see warmer temperatures across many southern areas of the UK as we draw in warm air from the continent.
“By Tuesday and Wednesday, temperatures in the South-east may reach 29C, which will feel very warm if not hot.
“Sunshine will accompany the high temperatures but with rain across some northern parts."
The warm weather is expected to last until the Bank Holiday weekend.
