A TEAM of seven midwives have raised £300 and counting after playing a five-a-side football tournament in pink tutus.
A group of midwives who work at the Royal Free London Trust in Barnet’s General Hospital, organised an interdepartmental five-a-side football tournament, to raise money to improve services for women and their families.
One team member, Breda Murphy, 29, who has worked in Barnet hospital for two years, said she was keen to work there as it had a “real family feel” to it.
Ms Murphy said: “We were very inexperienced, none of us could really play, and some had never played before. We just laughed through the matches.
“We lost every match but had such fun. As captain I must say I am very proud of my girls who managed to make all the other teams laugh with their great spirit and questionable grasp of the rules.
“We are using the money raised to support women and their families to get feeding their babies off to the best start.”
