Over 700 people got down in the dirt for a charity fitness day which raised £75,000 for a hospice charity.

Peace Hospice Care’s is a Watford-based charity working to improve quality of life for patients and families facing a life limiting illness.

Their obstacle course challenge, Push it for the Peace, took place on Saturday (September 24) in Chiswell Green, St. Albans.

Hundreds of runners tackled more than 40 obstacles across five miles in the sponsored event, which is still bringing in donations to help meet its £5 million yearly required budget to continue providing care.

Events and community fundraising manager at Peace Hospice Care Peter Watson said: “The event was a great success. Congratulations to everyone who took part – this has helped to raise vital funds for Peace Hospice Care’s services.

“We’re also very grateful to Bahlsen, Aitchisons Rafferty and My Citygate for supplying refreshments, sponsoring the beer tent and an obstacle.”

Many local companies took part, including St. Albans based SA Law firm and Specsavers Watford, which saw husband and wife Terence and Ruth Ritchie compete against each other.
