A Barnet police officer has been dismissed from service for using ‘threatening behaviour’ while off-duty and drunk.

Police Constable Karen Fraser was allegedly involved in a public order incident at McDonalds in Empire Way, Wembley, at 2am on December 6 2015.

On March 17 this year, she received a caution for a Section 4 Public Order offence which stated she had used threatening behaviour.

At a hearing yesterday (September 29), PC Fraser was proven to have failed to meet the Metropolitan police’s required standards of professional behaviour for honesty, integrity and discreditable conduct.

PC Fraser, who joined the Met in 2008, volunteered herself as a witness for the hearing and hurt her case by providing a statement which contained ‘serious omissions’.

Assistant Commissioner Helen King, who chaired the hearing, said: “The behaviour of PC Fraser, while off duty and under the influence of alcohol, is the type of conduct by members of the public that consistently pulls significant police resources into areas of night time economy across London.

“Off-duty officers are expected not to contribute to the levels of violence their on-duty colleagues are dealing with.

“In this case, PC Fraser conducted herself in a way that falls far below the high standards of professional behaviour rightly expected by the public and I have concluded that the appropriate outcome is dismissal without notice.”
