Saracens rugby team turned up in force to help raise £4,000 to help tackle breast cancer

The champions, whose Allianz Park ground is in Hendon, packed into a Finchley pub to support sponsors Alan Day Volkswagen managing director Paul Tanner raising money for Breast Cancer Now.

Players who attended the event, including team captain Brad Barritt, Chris Ashton and brothers Billy and Mako Vunipola, helped raise £1,000 on the night.

Customers and staff at the Hampstead car dealers, who have just signed a new sponsorship deal with the rugby team, raised thousands of pounds by staging a ‘Pink Day’ for cancer research.

Paul Tanner said: “I am delighted with the response and generosity from the Alan Day staff and customers.

“Thank you to everyone for taking part and supporting this amazing cause.

“It is a cause close to our hearts as members of staff have been treated for this disease.”

The showroom, decked out in pink balloons, hosted a fun bake off contest, a cycling competition and a game for guessing the number of balloons in a car.

Visitors were encouraged to buy cakes from staff wearing pink shirts and ties and to raise money in aid of cancer research.
