Detectives investigating a number of sexual assaults in the area have arrested a 21-year-old man.

He was arrested in the Broadfield Estate, Edgware, on Thursday evening on suspicion of sexual assault by touching.

He was taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.

Officers launched an investigation following a string of sexual assaults in Mill Hill and Edgware that happened in the last three months, and are still appealing for information.

One took place on Thursday, November 24 at about 11.30pm. A 23-year-old woman was walking along Dollis Road when an unknown man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

Two days later, on Saturday, November 26 at about 9.30pm, a 22-year-old woman was walking along Bittacy Hill when she was approached by an unknown man who grabbed and sexually assaulted her.

Detectives believe the two assaults could be linked due to the close proximity of the attacks and similarities of the incidents and victims.

Police are also investigating two sexual assaults and an attempted sexual assault in Edgware.

On September 23 at about 11.30pm, a 52-year-old woman was walking in Tayside when she was grabbed and sexually assaulted by an unknown male.

On November 20, at about 8.30pm, a 38-year-old woman was walking along Springwood Crescent when she was grabbed by an unknown male and sexually assaulted.

On October 28, at about 7.50pm, a 22-year-old woman was at the junction of Broadfields Avenue and Harrowes Mead when she was approached by an unknown man who attempted to sexually assault her.

Detectives believe the three assaults in Edgware are linked due a similar suspect description and them happening in the same area.

It is unknown if the Mill Hill and Edgware assaults are linked at this time.
