Spotted? Cyril, the foul-mouthed parrot

A fortnight ago we highlighted the case of Cyril the African Grey parrot who flew away from his owner's Cricklewood home a year ago, and has not been seen since.

No chance of finding the little fella, you may think. Well, last week Between the Lines received an email from a reader who believes the chattering bird may have been found near her office in Spring Villa Road, Edgware.

Eager to see Cyril, who often mutters rude words, reunited with her owner, Billie Rainbow, part-time bird-spotter Norma Garfield explained: "Our security guy was looking in the bushes and I asked him what he was looking for. He said there was a parrot on the ground and he had noticed it a few days earlier, but now it had disappeared.

"A lady with him said it was an African Grey, and I suddenly thought back to the article.

"There is a possibility it could be Cyril. It is very peaceful round here, a green oasis without much traffic. If Billie came and called out for Cyril, he may reappear."

Pleased to hear of his possible discovery, but still cautious, Billie said: "I had a dream about him last night, which is odd. I will try to go up there and have a look. Even if it is not Cyril, I'd be happy to take care of the parrot until its owner could be found."
