Inspector Pete Edwards said: “We will continue to work hard to prevent and detect burglaries. We have increased extra high-visibility police patrols and are targeting known offenders, as well as using covert tactics.

“Sadly, some of these burglaries could have been prevented by residents securing their property. I would recommend residents use timer switches to give their homes the ‘lived-in’ look.

"Please also remember to lock side gates and all windows. Where possible, tidy away garden furniture and tools in a locked shed or garage, so they cannot be used to get into your home by opportunist burglars who want to get in and out as quickly as possible."

Police and Crime Commissioner David Lloyd added: “Whilst the police can take action to catch criminals, residents need to play their part by making sure their homes are secure, reporting suspicious behaviour and joining a Neighbourhood Watch scheme.”

Anyone with information about any of these burglaries should call Hertfordshire Constabulary on 101.
