The plans for the redevelopment of Barnet FC's Underhill stadium should be warmly greeted.
For too long, the club and its fans have lived with the worry of having to leave the ground, and perhaps the borough, because improvements could not be carried out.
Bees' chairman Tony Kleanthous and council leader Mike Freer have spoken of an improved relationship between the club and authority.
Granting approval to the planning application would hopefully ensure the Bees have a secure future at Underhill, at least for the next few years.
It can only be hoped that the work is given the go-ahead and brings good fortune for the club, both on and off the pitch.
