PEOPLE from all different faiths, cultures and religions visited mosques as part of a ‘Visit My Mosque’ day.
Wightman Road Mosque, in Harringay, opened its doors as part of the national day yesterday (Sunday, January 5).
London Assembly Member Joanne McCartney visited the centre to see the work it does in the community.
She also met the children who take extra English and maths lessons at the mosque.
She said: “London is the most vibrant and diverse city on the planet. As the Mayor says, we don’t simply tolerate each other’s differences, we celebrate them. This is particularly important to highlight in the current political context.
“Schemes like Visit My Mosque are vital not only in helping to build an understanding of our different cultures, but show that London is Open.”
