A secondary school pupil wowed an MP with her mature command of a discussion of sex and relationships during a TV debate.

Whitefield School in Brent Cross sent a number of pupils to appear on BBC2’s Victoria Derbyshire show where they discussed sex and relationships in Sarah Champion, Labour MP for Rotherham.

Ms Champion was especially impressed with pupil Sebentile Mabuza, who expressed her opinions with “maturity and intelligence”.

Immediately after the broadcast, children’s charity Barnardo’s contacts Whitefield school asking Ms Mabuza to be one of their youth ambassadors.

She also performed a speech at the Barnet regional final of the Jack Petchey Speakout Challenge which won her the first place position.

Now she is in with a chance of moving on to the Grand Final at the West End in July where she could win a £2,000 bond for herself and £3,000 for Whitefield to carry out a project of her choice.
