More than 500 people attended a teacher recruitment fair on Sunday.

Now in its third year, the award winning Teach in Herts event at Hertfordshire Development Centre, in Stevenage, had representatives from more than 300 Hertfordshire schools.

Visitors could talk to staff from primary, secondary, middle and special schools about job vacancies, and many registered their interest or applied for jobs during the day.

Jan Paine, managing director of Herts for Learning, which organised the event, said: “Hertfordshire is a unique and special place to live and work as a teacher. Our schools are amongst the best in the country because we work together to provide staff with unrivalled career support and continuous professional development.

“We are delighted that so many people visited the Teacher Recruitment Fair today to come and experience the many benefits of teaching in Hertfordshire and we look forward to seeing lots of new faces in our schools and academies as they join our family of schools.”

Seventeen different workshops were also available for people to sign up for, aimed at new, returning and overseas trained teachers.
