Watford is the fifth most faithful town in the UK, according to a dating website for married people.

The “infidelity index”, compiled by IllicitEncounters.com, mapped the location of its 1.1 million members against each town’s adult population to find the most adulterous towns and cities in the country.

With only 365 members, 0.28 per cent of its total population, Watford had one of the lowest numbers of cheaters.

In terms of cities, St Albans was the 36th most adulterous with 4568 users - meaning 3.25 per cent of its population is cheating.

Gloucester was ranked the most adulterous city with 10, 178 users – 7.46 per cent of its population, and Glasgow was ranked as the most faithful city with 3,301 users – 0.56 per cent of its of population.

In terms of towns, with 1,146 users - 2.20 per cent of its population – Royal Tunbridge Wells had the highest number of cheaters. Barry, with 88 users, was the most faithful town in the UK.
