A Barnet police officer is running 156 miles across the Sahara desert for victims of the Westminster Bridge attack.
PC Vincent Jones from the Emergency Response team will be running the Marathon des Sables, running the equivalent of five and a half marathon while carrying his own food and equipment.
The challenge, for which the officer has trained for two years including specialist training to acclimatise to the 50 degree centigrade heat, begins on Sunday, 9 April.
PC Jones said: "I know this is going to be a very tough event to compete in and it is going to take all my mental and physical strength to get across the finish line.
“The incident in Westminster has made me even more determined to complete this task knowing that I will be raising money for such a worthy cause."
