Runners in Mill Hill, High Barnet and Golders Green have raised £20k for charity in the 2017 London Marathon.

Matt Blom, 26, who lives in Mill Hill, 27 year-old Josh Domb from High Barnet and Daniel Carmel-Brown, who works in Golders Green, ran 26.2 miles alongside thousands of runners in the capital on Sunday, raising £20,000 for Jewish Care.

Jewish Care is a health and social care charity with programmes mainly for the elderly, which was most poignant for Mr Domb, whose grandmother lives in Jewish Care’s Otto Schiff home in Golders Green.

He said: “It has been tough for the entire family and I don’t know what we would have done without the team at Jewish Care.

“Running a marathon for this excellent charity, whose work has benefited my whole family, was a great way to show my gratitude and I’ve had an incredible time preparing for this day.”

Mr Carmel-Brown, who is the director of fundraising and marketing for the charity, make this 20th year working for Jewish Care with his first marathon, crossing the finish line in 4.56.

He said: “This was the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life and definitely the toughest, both physically and mentally.

I dedicated my marathon to the 1400 colleagues and 3000 volunteers who work tirelessly for Jewish Care to support the Jewish community of London and the South East: it was the thought of them that got me to the finish.”

Talk Radio producer Mr Blom completed the marathon 5.31, and was “delighted” with his achievement.
