A meeting to review Barnet Council’s outsourcing contract with Re is to be postponed until after the general election.
Barnet Council recently called for consultation on their contract with Re, a joint venture between the council and Capita Business Services, which sees various services such as Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium and environmental health outsourced to the company.
But due to the general election and restrictions placed on councillors in the run up to the election, the meeting will be postponed to June 26.
Unison members have previously slammed the contract for being “overly bureaucratic” and claimed the council spent more than planned on the contract over the last two years.
The meeting is an opportunity for members of the public to present their views to councillors as part of a four-year review of the contract and the deadline for comments has been extended to June 21 to join up with the new date.
