An Olympic silver-medallist opened a new trampolining arena yesterday.

Bryony Page, who won silver for Team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympics, performed a special routine on trampolines at Flip Out, a new centre for trampolining in Brent Cross.

The centre, near Staples Corner, also has a ninja warrior course, tumble track and area for children under five years-old, with a nail bar to be opened soon.

Flip Out director Amanda Kakembo said: “In a world where many adults and children alike spend more and more time on their phones and iPads, we hope Flip Out Brent Cross will become a social and community based hub for local people.”

She added: “We are absolutely thrilled to have such an esteemed and passionate athlete as Bryony Page to open Flip Out Brent Cross, fresh from her silver medal sensation with Team GB in Rio 2016.

“We know her routine on our Olympic standard trampolines at our opening event will continue to inspire kids, mums and dads across north London and beyond to take up this fantastic and fun activity.”

Ms Page, who was the first British woman to win a medal in trampolining at the Olympics, beat off China’s Li Dan to the silver medal as Canada’s Rosie MacLennan took the top prize.

Ms Kakembo also described the benefits of trampolining as a low-impact cardio workout that improves balance and co-ordination and gives muscles in the body a 360-degree workout that is light on the limbs.
