A cinema has announced its new trustees to maintain its prominence on the high street.

The Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley, whose charitable trust boasts patrons such as Dame Judi Dench and Michael Palin, has welcomed experts from fundraising, media and marketing to help maintain its prominence along the High Road.

The cinema was built more than 100 years ago and is listed by English Heritage, after being saved from demolition by the community trust in 1975.

Trust chairman James Kessler QC said: “All our new appointments have a real love of film and a keen commitment to maintaining the vibrancy of their local community – of which the Phoenix Cinema is a key part.

“In addition, between them, our new board members have an ideal mix of backgrounds and skills to help make the most out of this unique and important local venue for the benefit of the community of East Finchley and north London as a whole.”

New trustees include Alison Gold, former head of public services strategy at the BBC Trust, Marta Montague, head of development at the Institute of Fundraising and Tim Hoang, head of social media and digital marketing EMEA for London investment firm BlackRock.
