A Finchley and Golders Green candidate donned his walking shoes for a charity event in London on Saturday.

Mike Freer, who has served as the Conservative MP for Finchley and Golders Green since 2010, raised £5,195 in the annual Moonwalk, a 15 mile overnight walk through the capital.

Mr Freer also took part in the event last year, but exceeded his fundraising total this year for Walk the Walk, who help fund research projects into breast cancer.

He said: “I am delighted to have raised such a significant sum for this very worthy cause and I take this opportunity to thank everybody who sponsored me.

“The weather was fine, which is always helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the walk with several colleagues.

“Although the final stages were tough, the overall camaraderie made it once again a most enjoyable experience.”

The walk begins at 10.30pm and Mr Freer completed the route by 4.30am.
