Barnet Council have launched a three partnership with a charity.

The council are supporting children’s charity Unicef for three years as part of its Child Rights Partners Programme, and is one of three local authorities to do so.

The programme aims to embed children’s rights in the council’s policy and practice as part of a global initiative to help communities and cities put children at their heart, and Barnet Council is the first London authority to get involved.

Naomi Danquah, Unicef’s Programme Director of the Child Right’s Partners programme said: “At a time when councils are having to make tough choices about the delivery of local services, it’s essential that all children, particularly the most vulnerable, are supported, protected and able to flourish.”

Unicef UK piloted the programme for three years from 2013 to 2016 working with five local authorities, before expanding it this year.
