The Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner has reassured the public after Saturday's terror attack, and says he doesn't believe a terror attack is likely in the county.

PCC David Lloyd has called on neighbours to "be vigilant" but has reassured neighbours that an attack taking place in Hertfordshire is unlikely.

This comes after seven were killed after suspects drove a van into pedestrians walking on London Bridge before running into Borough Market and stabbing a number of people on Saturday night.

Mr Lloyd said: "My thoughts and those of all in the Constabulary and in my office are with the victims of the attacks in London, as they were with the victims of the attacks earlier on in Manchester.

I also want to pay tribute to the incredible bravery of the emergency services. We say that so often but it is so much the case that it’s the emergency services who are going in when everyone else is running away, and thankfully they acted quickly and went well beyond our expectations of them – as they always do."

Mr Lloyd went on to say that the police in Hertfordshire have "robust measures" in place to deal with any attacks and that they have "no knowledge that there's likely to be an attack taking place."

He added: "These are cowardly attacks on defenceless people and they will never succeed.”

If you suspect any potential threat or see anything unusual call 999 immediately or the anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.
