A children's author celebrated the opening of a school library by reading to the children.

Finchley-based author Rob Biddulph, read out two of his books to children at Finchley's Moss Hall Infant School, Nether Street and gave them a quick lesson on being an illustrator.

The school revamped their library over the course of a term and were pleased to welcome Mr Biddulph to cut the ribbon before signing some of his books.

Acting deputy headteacher Samina Thorpe said: "The children had an amazing day with Rob, who was thrilled to be invited to open our new library.

"He was impressed with the art work that the children had produced and talked to them about what they liked most about the new library.

"The children sat captivated as he read to them and the whole building shook as we tried to hit 5 on the ‘growl-o-meter.”

Mr Biddulph emphasised the important of practising drawing skills so that he could improve his art work, as he illustrates his own books.

Books written and illustrated by Mr Biddulph include Odd Dog Out, My Brother is a Superhero and Blown Away, his first book which won the Waterstone's Children's Book Prize 2015.
