Tribute road signs have been installed to commemorate a former library in Colindale.

Fairview New Homes has installed road signs commemorating the former British Newspaper Library at the Edition development, with each road named after famous titles the library once stocked.

Signs in Telegraph Avenue, Chronicle Avenue, Observer Close and Guardian Avenue were opened last week.

The Edition development will see 395 homes built and people are beginning to move into each of the six apartment buildings already constructed.

Stephen Brown, Area Construction Manager for Fairview, said: “This land was home to the British Newspaper Library for decades, and the naming of these roads will ensure that the legacy of the site lives on for many years to come."

He continued: “We are really pleased with how the development has come together, and it’s great to see residents living in each of the apartment buildings and walking the new streets named in honour of the site’s past.”

The developer bought the land in early 2013 after the British Library made plans to move the newspapers to a new facility.

Mr Brown added the developer is currently paving a public piazza and consulting with companies who may be interested in setting up shops in the surrounding area.

Construction of the development is set to finish in October.
