Thieves who stole a sports car off a driveway in Garston have taken the owner’s “pride and joy”, according to his partner.

A number of properties were targeted during a series of burglaries which took place on Friday afternoon in the vicinity of Amwell Close.

At the home of Tiffany Jayne, 20, and her partner, criminals broke through the front door – not perturbed by the dogs inside – and proceeded to steal cash and the keys to a red Vauxhall Insignia VXR before making off in the high-performance car.

The couple had only owned the vehicle for four months.

“That car is his pride and joy – he often takes it to car shows,” said Miss Jayne.

“He’s gutted but there’s nothing we can do. It could be absolutely anywhere by now.”

The car was last seen on the M1 later on Friday afternoon, racing in the direction of Brent Cross with another vehicle.

Miss Jayne is now waiting for motorway security camera footage to come back from police to give an indication of where the car might have ended up.

If you have seen the stolen car - which has the registration plate BG61 WXF - please get in contact with police via the non-emergency 101 number.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has been contacted for comment.
