Construction on apartments in Hendon has started.

The Rushgroves, a development in Hendon to bring 350 new homes to the area, started today after the Mayor of Barnet Cllr Brian Salinger joined staff to launch its construction.

The site, located close to Rookery Way, will include shared ownership properties, duplexes, triplexes and studio, one, two and three bed apartments, managed by L&Q.

Cllr Salinger said: "It has been really exciting to visit The Rushgroves and hear about L&Q’s vision for this development.

"I’m really pleased that the development will celebrate important aspects of Hendon’s local history including the Silk Stream and it promises to be a great place to live for residents."

The development, which features designs based on the nearby Silk Stream, will also include outdoor communal areas and commercial spaces, such as the Hendon Hub for entrepreneurs.

Construction has began on the 13-storey apartment blocks on Edgware Road before further homes will be developed over the project's duration.
