Police are warning motorcycle owners to be vigilant following a spate of thefts across the county.

Sometime between 9.30pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday, a Yamaha motorbike was stolen from the driveway of a house in Prestwick Road, Watford.

Enquiries to find the bike are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.

However the theft is just the latest in a string of targeted burglaries.

Watford Observer:

In a statement Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “Recently there has been an increase in the number of motorcycles being stolen across the county and we are urging motorcyclists to take additional security measures to protect their bikes.

“If possible keep it out of sight in a garage or a shed. If you are unable to do this please ensure you use good quality locks and consider fitting a tracking device, an alarm or immobiliser and an ignition cut-out switch.

“Further advice is available on the crime prevention section of our website.

“Residents can also help us by reporting anyone acting suspiciously near motorcycles or other parked vehicles. Ideally please take a note of what the people look like, including their clothing, and any registration numbers of vehicles, such as vans, that may be used to transport them.

“Always dial 999 if you witness a crime in progress.”
