A "hero" girl saved her elderly neighbour after he fell in his garden.

Amelie Epstein Bowman, 7, was in the garden at her grandparents' house in Lynton Mead, Whetstone, when she heard a faint sound of someone calling from nearby.

After attempting to alert her grandparents, Miss Epstein Bowman tells their neighbour she believes Reg Davey, their 94-year-old neighbour, is calling from the back garden and rush out to him with her mother, Suzanne, in tow.

They found Mr Davey lying on the ground after fell while gardening, and helped to lift him into his chair before calling paramedics who were able to double-check his health.

Ms Epstein said: "Reg was a hero in the Second World War and was a decorated gunner in a Lancaster jet.

"He has pictures up in his home with medals being received from Prince Charles and framed certificates from George VI.

"Now my daughter Amelie is a hero!"

The following day Mr Davey visited Miss Epstein Bowman and brought flowers, a voucher and chocolates, to thank her for her heroics.

My Davey had been outside for three hours and had been using his SOS whistle when the young girl alerted her family.
