The council are looking forward to a day which hopes to give something back to older people in society.

This year Hertsmere Borough Council are providing grants of up to £300 in celebration of Older People’s Day and Silver Sunday, which occur on Sunday, October 1 this year.

The grants will go to community groups or voluntary organisations to hold events or arrange trips between September 28 and October 4.

The money can be used to provide a range of social events or sporting activities for residents aged 65 or over, from jewellery making to concerts.

The date recognises the contributions that pensioners have made to our society and looks to give a little something back.
