A vicious attacker who punched and mauled a man at Kings Langley train station has been spared jail.

Sheridan Taylor, 20, of Little How Croft, Abbots Langley, was charged with one count of actual bodily harm following the unprovoked attack.

On Wednesday, December 9, 2015, the victim - a man his twenties - was on the London Midland service with Taylor. They knew each other and were coincidently on the same train returning from work.

As the train pulled into Kings Langley, the victim went to leave the train. However, Taylor confronted the victim and punched him. Taylor then grabbed the victim and pulled him by his shoulder.

The victim yelled out in pain and asked Taylor to let him go, but Taylor punched him again.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance crews and was treated for cuts and bruises to the head and left eye, as well as a dislocated shoulder.

Taylor pleaded not guilty to the charge of actual bodily harm but following a trial at Harrow Crown Court, he was convicted of the crime and sentenced on July 5 this year. As well as an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, Taylor was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation, £500 costs and a £120 victim surcharge.

He was also ordered to undertake 200 hours of community service and has a four month curfew imposed.

Investigating officer DC Amanda Jones said: “The unprovoked violence which Taylor demonstrated was utterly disgusting. He threw the victim around the train with such force that he dislocated his shoulder and caused a severe level of pain. Despite his victim’s cries to let him go, Taylor continued attacking him.

“As you can imagine, this was a frightening experience for the victim who sustained some very nasty injuries as a result of Taylors attack. I am very pleased that Taylor was quickly identified and I welcome the sentence he received last week.

“We will never tolerate this type of senseless and unprovoked violence and will always work tirelessly to identify and prosecute perpetrators.”
