Rossi Eames bemoaned a "chalk and cheese" performance from his Barnet side after they recorded a 3-1 pre-season win over Braintree Town on Tuesday.

Goals from Nana Kyei, a trialist and Mauro Vilhete ensured a comfortable win, despite Braintree scoring a late consolation.

However, Eames still wasn't completely satisfied and was particularly critical of the Bees' first half showing.

"The first half I wasn't too pleased with the way we pressed. What we have been doing in recent games and the last four-and-a-half weeks wasn't there," he told the Barnet website.

"The recovery runs could have been better and we didn't use the ball as well as we could have.

"The second half was excellent, it was chalk and cheese. That really pleased me in the second half, but the first could have been better."

The result came on the back of a 1-0 win over Millwall on Saturday and saw a number of trialists play.

As well as finding the net, he laid on the assist for Barnet's third, but Garrard remained coy on the future of all the trialists.

He said: "They did pretty well and I was pleased with what I saw from them. One played the full 90 minutes and the other 25.

"They will be sticking around for a little bit longer."

The countdown to the start of the League Two season is well and truly on with a visit to newly promoted Forest Green first on the agenda on August 5.

Preparations for the 2017/18 campaign could not have gone much smoother for Barnet, with five friendlies yielding five wins.

The Bees will hope to complete a clean sweep against Concord Rangers on Saturday.

Eames expects his starting XI to bear a resemblance to the one which takes on Concord and is pleased with the way his squad is progressing.

"We have focused on how we want the team to play," he explained. "The players have to take a lot of credit for taking it on board.

"The team against Concord will certainly be closer to what we will start with against Forest Green.

"There are always surprises in the weeks building up to it, so things might change.

"It is about keeping consistency and keeping the process going."
