A multi-faith forum tackled issues of terrorism and slavery at their annual general meeting.

Barnet Multi Faith Forum (BMFF), met on July 20 at Hendon Town Hall and discussed the Finsbury Park Mosque attack and Grenfell Tower, considering the importance of the response of religious groups from all faiths.

Es Rosen, chair of the BMFF, said: "Whilst saluting the incredible response of the front line services it has repeatedly been the local faith communities who have provided the means of support for those in distress and could deliver on the important aspects of caring for the victims.

"This has only come about because we have worked together in gatherings such as these and in the small but positive ways to build the relationships of trust and confidence that when tragedy strikes we are able to respond effectively."

Mr Rosen also went on to describe ways in which the BMFF has become the "strategic voice of the faith sector in Barnet" before the treasurer, Reverend Shaun Sanders, presented a cheque to Mayoress Kate Salinger for Homeless Action in Barnet.

Following the AGM, members of the forum were given a talk about slavery and human trafficking by Mia Hasenson-Gross, director of Jewish human rights organisation Rene Cassin, with discussions chaired by Anthony Melnikoff JP .

She said: "[Slavery] may not involve shackles and chains but there are actually more slaves today than at any point in human history, and it continues to represent grave violations of human rights."
