Schoolchildren break their school fundraising record by collecting £3,750 for charity in a single term.

Year Seven students at Mill Hill County High School held events and challenges and went head to head to raise the most for children's charity Barnardo's.

The pupils, led by teacher Muryum Khan, put on a range of fundraisers, from ashing teachers' cars and a digital photo booth, to a football and charging for bouncing on a trampoline.

The group raised more in the Easter term than any other previous year groups who have taken on the fundraising challenge.

Headteacher Geoffrey Thompson said: "I’m impressed and delighted that our pupils have raised such a fantastic amount of money for Barnardo’s.

"It’s particularly appropriate that they’ve put in so much hard work to help a charity that’s dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable children and young people."

The children received certificates on the last day of term after presenting former pupil and head of challenge events and community fundraising at Barnardo's, Monique Turpin.

She said: "It’s fantastic to be able to come back to the school and meet a new generation of pupils who really want to help other children, and I want to thank every one of them for contributing this amazing group effort." The funds they have raised will really help Barnardo’s do more to create safer childhoods, stronger families and positive futures for more children and young people.”
