A cyclist will ride over three days, and more than 200 miles for charity, from his new home to his former home.

Dave Dutton, 62.5, will aim to raise £625, £10 for each year of his life, for Prostate Cancer UK, cycling from Leeds to his former home in Finchley.

Mr Dutton decided to cycle the route after hearing of cyclists cycling in the opposite direction, but wanted to try the route the other way, meaning he will cycle towards his father, Ted, who lives in Briarfield Avenue.

He was educated at the former Finchley Catholic Grammar School, now Finchley Catholic High School, and lived in Finchley from 1966 to 1980.

He said: "I retired from bus driving at end of last year and decided to spend my gained time doing a variety of new things.

"I've never cycled so far in my youth, but I enjoy cycling, and it seemed like a good idea."

Mr Dutton will ride alone so as to not "slow the other down" as a competitive energy can come from riding in groups, and he expects to cycle around 9 hours a day with two overnight stops.

He chose Prostate Cancer UK after seeing Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling take up a walking challenge for the charity.

The ride will start in Leeds on August 27th and end at Tesco in Ballards Lane, Finchley on August 29th at around 7pm.
