Consultation has been extended on a proposal for more than 1,000 homes in the next stage of a regeneration project.

Genesis Housing Association has put forward a planning application for "Stage B" of its regeneration project of the Grahame Park estate in Colindale, which would see 630 homes replaced with 1,083 new homes over the next 10 years.

The application will be reviewed at Barnet Council's planning committee meeting, with a decision expected later in the year.

The association invited people to give their views on the proposals at the Grahame Park fun day in July, as well as at drop-in sessions and community events, with the consultation on the plans now open until August 16.

Cllr Dan Thomas, deputy leader of Barnet Council and chairman of assets, regeneration and growth committee, said: "We are fully committed to helping build strong neighbourhoods, working closely with our partners to provide our residents with good quality homes and transforming Barnet for the better.

"This latest milestone at Colindale is further evidence of that commitment. From the creation of new facilities to new jobs for local people, our regeneration schemes will help support whole communities and ensure local people continue to benefit for generations to come."

Other facilities mentioned in the proposals include green spaces with play areas, a community hub containing services such as a nursery, GP surgery, hall and health facilities and improved transport links.
