A whole host of events are taking place over the summer at a centre in Edgware.

The Broadwalk Centre is holding an events programme from August 5-26 to give families the chance to take part in upcycling workshops in their "Trash to Treasure" campaign.

Each Saturday will be an interactive session showing children and adults to fix up their clothing into iconic fashion pieces, even pyjamas.

Angela Brooks, Centre Manager at The Broadwalk Centre, commented:

"Upcycling has become such a popular trend and it’s something that is naturally progressing in the fashion world.

"The workshops not only provide wonderful activity for local families to get crafty during the school summer holidays, but also help support our efforts to continue to be an environmentally-friendly shopping centre."

Also taking place at the centre is a free lunch on August 5, which continues in the environmental theme by showing people how they can reduce food waste.

The lunch signals the end of a series of events in conjunction with the North London Waste Authority to raise awareness of how people can be more environmentally friendly with their food.

The "Trash to Treasure" events kick off from 12pm every Saturday between August 5-26, while the free lunch event takes place on August 5 from 11am, with another lunch happening at nearby centre Edmonton Green Shopping Centre in Enfield on August 6.
