Hendon signed off their pre-season schedule last night with a win and a clean sheet against Isthmian League North side Hertford Town at Silver Jubilee Park.

The 1-0 victory, secured thanks to midfielder Matt Ball’s strike, provided the perfect end to a more than satisfactory pre-season program that has seen The Greens secure eight wins from a possible nine.

Gary McCann’s side now get set to kick-off their Isthmian Premier Division campaign with a trip to Tonbridge Angels on Saturday as they look to put the disappointment of last season behind them.

Hendon finished in an uncharacteristically low position of 18th, just two points above the relegation zone in what was one of the tightest battles to avoid the drop in years.

On Saturday, they warmed up for the new campaign with a 3-0 victory at Bostik League Division One South side VCD Athletic.

McCann’s men secured the comprehensive win thanks to goals from forwards Zak Joseph, new signing Daniel Uchechi and Keagan Cole.

It was the perfect start to life at the club for former Boreham Wood striker Uchechi whose arrival was only confirmed on the club website in the aftermath of Saturday’s win.
