A hospice is seeking runners and walkers of all abilities to take part in a special event.

St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow, which provides day care for an average of 40 patients per week, will host its inaugural 5k ‘Bubble Rush’ on 16 September.

This will involve participants making their way along the route as they get covered in frothy, foamy bubbles of various colours.

The event is untimed and organisers want to stress that it’s all about having a great time.

“People will be able to enjoy the day with friends and family. It will prove to be a riot of colours and fun for everyone,” they said.

One runner, Kath, who will be attending with her husband and three young children, explained that she would be taking part to show her support for the hospice.

“St Luke’s is a great cause that does so much for the local community and really knows how to put on an exciting and fun event,” she said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing my kids’ faces when they see all the bubbles and having lots of giggles as we go round the course. They will love getting wet and making hats and beards.”

Money raised from the day will go towards supporting the service provided by the hospice, which receives less than a third of its funding from the NHS.

Registration for the event is £20 for adults and £10 for children, which includes a special ‘Bubble Rush’ t-shirt. Visit www.stlukes-hospice.org/bubblerush or call 020 8382 8112 to register.
