A woman who lost her late mum's sewing thimble and a sentimental wrist watch is appealing for its safe return.

Myrna Elliot believes the jewelry fell out when she was getting back into her Toyota Aventis in the Boulevard car park, Borehamwood, at around 2pm yesterday (Thursday).

She says she heard a noise but didn't think anything of it at the time - and it wasn't until she was halfway home she realised they had gone.

She drove back and scoured the area where she thinks she may have parked, but was unable to find the precious items.

The thimble belonged to her mum, Ada, who died in 2011.

She said: "My first thought wasn't the watch, it was the thimble. It has such sentimental value. My mum wore it for work and sewed and sewed.

"I always kept it close to me to remind myself how hard she worked, sewing and sewing. I'm very emotional about it."
