Ian Fuhr’s first Sorbet Salons were in South Africa, now they can be found in London’s Mill Hill, East Finchley, Muswell Hill and Crouch End.

Later he began putting together his very own products. Having had a manicure and pedicure at the Mill Hill branch in the past, and being a big fan of their Salon Skin Vitamin Rescue Masque (£20), their new announcement intrigued me.

In June this year Sorbet Salons launched their brand new line, Sorbet Skincare. There are three separate lines – Hydro Skin, Age Affect and Salon Skin.

I quickly got my hands on two products. The Salon Skin 3-in-1 Cleansing Micellar Water (£6), which boasts essential oils Lavender and Rosemary, advanced actives and highly concentrated vitamins (A,C & E) in a cleansing water consisting of micellar particles to draw make-up, sebum and impurities from the skin.

The second is the Age Affect Décolletage & Neck Cream which promises to help keep skin younger looking, firm and wrinkle-free. Before I could put these to use and began seeing the effects they announced The Sorbet Facial, which uses only Sorbet Skincare products. So, naturally, I booked myself in.

A facial, for those who don’t know (like me, this was my first), is a combination treatment focusing on one area. Traditionally, and as used in the Sorbet service, this includes a steam, exfoliation, extraction, moisturising treatments, facial masks, peels and a nice massage. Together the amalgamated process treats all needs and ailments of your skin.

I went for the 75-minute version of the treatment, which began with a double cleanse followed by exfoliation, a 20 minute face, neck and shoulder massage and then a mask. It was luxurious, relaxing and my skin felt sumptuous on my way out the door.

During this facial, your therapist does a ‘face-mapping’ session in which they identify what skin issues you’re having and then the facial will be personalised to you.

I was told I have great skin – a relief – although it is a little dry and she did clear out a few pores for me.

My skin was positively drenched afterwards and felt so toned and de-wrinkled it was almost puffy. When I woke the next day it looked smooth, clear and with new elasticity.

Not only should a facial be a pamper session for those who desire or require one, but it is the ideal way to kick-start a new skincare regime.

With a freshly plumped, rejuvenated face I was set on path to maintain the renewed condition of my skin.
