School leaders were invited to City Hall to receive an award for their academic success.

Leaders from Sunnyfields Primary School were welcomes by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to City Hall to received the Schools for Success award for being in the top six percent of schools in London for supporting children with low prior attainment.

The Mayor recognised that Sunnyfields is achieving academic success with all pupils, in particular those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged, or whose circumstances could have an impact on their learning.

Headteacher Lisa Meyer said: "It is an honour to receive this award in recognition of our success. We have a fantastic team at the school who inspire the children to enjoy their learning.

"Sunnyfields has been recognised in the Schools for Success Awards because we encourage every individual to believe in themselves, have high expectations of all and find ways to overcome barriers to learning."

The first year of the scheme recognised 102 schools for their academic successes, and those who were awarded have been asked to share their good practices in seminars with other schools.
