Harvest poems and songs were read at a special school assembly to present donation to a charity.

Children from Chalgrove Primary School in Chalgrove Gardens, Finchley celebrated their hard work at collecting donations for North London Hospice in their Harvest Festival assembly.

Members of the Year Two classes sang Harvest songs, while other children read Harvest poems, before Tracy Annunziato, of North London Hospice, told the children how their donation will help the running the the centre.

Early Years Foundation Stage leader and phonics coordinator Kristy Taylor said: "Harvest is a time we give to those who are not as fortunate as ourselves, and our Harvest festival achieved this."

Tracy Annunziato, who attended the festival as a representative from the charity, said: "On behalf of North London Hospice, I'd like to say a very big thank you to the pupils and teachers at Chalgrove School for their very generous donations from their Harvest festival collection.

"Without the help and support from our local community we wouldn't be able to provide the vital services we do."

The children also plan to generate donations for the hospice again at Christmas by donating presents.
