A cultural hotspot will be revamped following a six-figure funding package.

The award-winning artsdepot in Nether Lane, Finchley, has been awarded £150,000 by HSBC to upgrade equipment, carry out maintenance work and improve visitor spaces.

Other renovations include new lighting, upgraded seating and ventilation and a face-lift to the main entrance and visitor cafe with new signage, lightboxes, modern seating and tables.

Ron Clarke, Finance and Operations Director at Arts Depot said: "We are absolutely delighted about the work that will take place here and would like to thank HSBC for supporting what we do – since opening we have entertained people of all ages through the arts and this loan will enable us to continue doing so.

"The planned improvements will ensure the centre continues to provide curtain calls and encores to performers and audiences alike for many years to come."

One of the art studios will also be reconfigured to maximise the space with new flooring and lighting.

The North Finchley culture centre opened in 2004 and includes a 395-seat theatre, 148-seat studio theatre, art gallery, artist studios and visitors' centre, showing everything from live music and exhibitions to 200 children's performances each year.
