Barnet has been voted the second friendliest borough, according to results of a survey.

According to Vivo Property Buyers, Barnet scored a "friendly rating" of 75 out of 100, which placed it the second friendliest in the borough.

Those surveyed were asked questions relating to community activity and spirit, supporting local trade and socialising with neighbours.

Around 90 per cent of those surveyed said they actively sought out local independent businesses such as Barnet Market, while 69 per cent said they felt safe and that there was a sense of community spirit.

The survey also showed that around 70 per cent of people have taken part in a community event in the last 12 months.

Leader of Barnet Council, Cllr Richard Cornelius said: "It’s great news that Barnet has been named the second friendliest borough in London and we really want to keep it that way.

"We try and ensure that all the work we do improves the lives of our residents and keeps them safe and happy in the borough.

"We hope that in the coming years, we see even more people supporting their local businesses and attending community run events."
