Events were held in honour of interfaith week in Hendon.

From November 13 the Barnet Multi Faith Forum (BMFF) hosted its first ever interfaith week, kicking off with an exhibition at Middlesex University.

In partnership with Yad Vashem UK Foundation, Middlesex University Student Union, Faith Matters and the Barnet Multi Faith Forum, the exhibition showcased photographs illustrating the pain of the Holocaust in the Muslim community.

Principally from Albania, 70 Muslims were honoured as Righteous amongst the Nations by Yad Vashem in Israel for their bravery in rescuing more than 1000 Jews fleeing from Nazi persecution during the Second World War.

Es Rosen, chairman of BMFF, said: “These acts, originating from compassion, loving-kindness and a desire to help those in need - even those of another faith who were facing the most desperate of circumstances, are to be celebrated and can become signals of hope for future generations.”

On November 15, Fiyaz Mughal, founder of Faith Matters and Tell Mamma, an agency through which people can report Islamophobic hate crimes, spoke about the importance of the story told through Monday’s exhibition, and how these stories show “a common bond and link between people of two faiths who believe in the compassion of God and the sanctity of life.”
